- Research shows that both Normothermic Regional Perfusion (NRP) and Hypothermic-Oxygenated-Perfusion (HOPE) improve outcomes in liver transplants from donors after circulatory death (DCD), but direct comparisons and mechanisms are not well-studied.
- In a rat study, DCD livers experienced more damage and inflammation after NRP compared to HOPE, which resulted in better mitochondrial health and lower inflammation.
- The findings suggest that high-risk DCD livers benefit more from HOPE, indicating a need for further clinical studies to confirm these results and improve transplant outcomes.
Simple hepatic cysts (SHCs) are usually asymptomatic and detected incidentally. However, larger cysts may present with clinical signs and require treatment such as percutaneous aspiration or surgery with non negligeable rate of recurrence. We report a series of 13 consecutive patients who underwent EUS-guided lumen-apposing metal stent (LAMS) drainage of SHCs of the right and left liver.

Design: Adhering to PRISMA guidelines, a total of 14,557 studies were identified through five databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cinahl, ERIC, PsycINFO, and Web of Science).
Aim: Diverticular disease is widespread worldwide. Mainstay approach is non-operative treatment with bowel rest and broad-spectrum intravenous antibiotics. However, extra-colic abscess larger than 4 cm may require percutaneous trans-abdominal drainage.
