In the present investigation, novel photoluminescent and transparent biocomposite films based on chitosan reinforced with styrylbenzothiazolium-g-cellulose nanocrystal for anti-counterfeiting applications were successfully prepared by casting solvent. Three novel styrylbenzothiazolium derivatives were synthesized by Knoevenagel condensation and characterized by FTIR, H, C NMR and photoluminescence analysis. These photochromic compounds have been used to functionalize cellulose nanocrystal and the resulting fluorescent photonic materials were characterized by FTIR, C-CP/MAS NMR as well as photoluminescent analysis to confirm the successful grafting.

The present study reports the synthesis, characterization and corrosion inhibition effects of chitosan (CH) and its 5-chloromethyl-8-hydroxyquinoline derivative (CH-HQ) for mild steel in acidic medium. The synthesized CH-HQ was characterized using H NMR and FT-IR spectroscopic methods. Corrosion inhibition efficiencies of CH and CH-HQ were measured using electrochemical and chemical techniques.

In this study, active nanocomposite films based on cellulose nanocrystalline (NCC) reinforced styrylquinoxalin-grafted-chitosan are prepared by solvent-casting process. The structures of the two styrylquinoxaline derivatives were confirmed by FT-IR, H, C NMR spectral data and the study of the antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli (EC), Staphylococcus aureus (SA), Bacillus subtilis (BS) and Pseudomonas Aeruginosa (PA) exhibits that they have a good antibacterial activity against (PA). On their side, the styrylquinoxalin-g-chitosan films are able to inhibit the growth of (PA) through their contact area without being damaged by the antibacterial test conditions.
