Unveiling FKBP7 as an early endoplasmic reticulum sentinel in pancreatic stellate cell activation, collagen remodeling and tumor progression.

In pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), fibroblast activation leads to excessive secretion of extracellular matrix (ECM) and soluble factors that regulate tumor progression, prompting investigation into endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-resident proteins that may support this activation. We identified FKBP7, a peptidyl-prolyl isomerase in the ER, as overexpressed in PDAC stroma compared to cancer cells, and in patients with favorable prognosis. Analysis of single-cell RNA sequencing databases revealed FKBP7 expression in pancreatic stellate cells (PSCs) and cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs).

Drivers of Seasonal Change of Avian Communities in Urban Parks and Cemeteries of Latin America.

Urban parks and cemeteries constitute hot spots of bird diversity in urban areas. However, the seasonal dynamics of their bird communities have been scarcely explored at large scales. This study aims to analyze the drivers of urban bird assemblage seasonality in urban parks and cemeteries comparing assemblages during breeding and non-breeding seasons in the Neotropical Region.

Posterior rectal advancement with fistula preservation in patients with anorectal malformation. A multicenter study.

Background: Anorectal malformations (ARM) with rectoperineal fistula are mainly repaired with a posterior sagittal anorectoplasty (PSARP), which can be challenging given the proximity of the fistula to the vagina and urethra. The posterior rectal advancement anoplasty (PRAA), preserves the anterior wall of the fistula without leaving an anterior or a posterior sagittal incision. It is indicated for selected cases of ARM with rectoperineal fistula in which the anterior aspect of the fistula is partially surrounded by sphincter complex.

Biographical features like social and economic status, ethnicity, sexuality, care roles, and gender unfairly disadvantage individuals within academia. Authorship patterns should reflect the social dimension behind the publishing process and co-authorship dynamics. To detect potential gender biases in the authorship of papers and examine the extent of women's contribution in terms of the substantial volume of scientific production in Ecology, we surveyed papers from the top-ranked journal Ecology from 1999 to 2021.

The E3 ubiquitin ligase TRIP12 is required for pancreatic acinar cell plasticity and pancreatic carcinogenesis.

The E3 ubiquitin ligase thyroid hormone receptor interacting protein 12 (TRIP12) has been implicated in pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC) through its role in mediating the degradation of pancreas transcription factor 1a (PTF1a). PTF1a is a transcription factor essential for the acinar differentiation state that is notably diminished during the early steps of pancreatic carcinogenesis. Despite these findings, the direct involvement of TRIP12 in the onset of pancreatic cancer has yet to be established.
