The aim of this study was to produce texturized vegetable proteins (TVPs) from faba bean protein via low-moisture extrusion. The effect of extrusion variables including temperature (110, 125, and 140 °C at the die), feed moisture content (30, 35, and 40%), and screw speed (200, 300, and 400 rpm) on the TVP properties were investigated. An increase in feed moisture content or extruder temperature reduced the specific mechanical energy and torque by 40-45% during extrusion.

Introduction: The fecal immunochemical test (FIT) is highly effective in reducing colorectal cancer (CRC) mortality, but patient adherence to the screening process remains questionable. We present preliminary findings from a quality improvement (QI) initiative, in order to assess screening adherence and findings.

Methods: All FIT specimens in a 30-month period were retrospectively examined.

Intimate partner violence (IPV) increases the risk of homelessness and housing instability, particularly among Latine immigrant survivors in the USA. Latina immigrant women face disproportionate impacts of IPV and heightened risks for homelessness and housing instability, yet remain underrepresented in the IPV and housing literature, where methodologies regularly fail to center their voices and lived experiences. This study addresses this gap by utilizing Participatory Action Research (PAR) to investigate the housing experiences of Latina immigrant survivors (N = 14) through in-depth interviews conducted in Spanish.

This study aims to determine the relationship between self-perception of smile aesthetics and personality traits of first-year undergraduate students at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. This study used an observational design, and an electronic research form distributed via the institutional email addresses of the first-year undergraduate students enrolled at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in 2021. The forms include four sections: informed consent, personal data, questions about self-perception of smile aesthetics (the SPIRQoL questionnaire), and questions about personality traits (the Revised NEO-FFI questionnaire).

Aims: Transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) has become a feasible alternative to surgical mitral valve replacement (SMVR) in selected patients at high surgical risk. The risk of valve thrombosis following SMVR and TMVR, and the optimal antithrombotic therapy following these procedures, remains uncertain. We aimed to compare the incidence of bioprosthetic mitral valve thrombosis (bMVT) after SMVR and TMVR, and the incidence of bMVT between patients on different antithrombotic regimens.
