Objective: The primary aim of our study was to compare tumor size assessment by pre-operative evaluation (physical examination and/or imaging) with tumor size on final pathology. As a secondary outcome, we evaluated the rate of adjuvant treatment in patients who underwent radical hysterectomy whose tumor size was ≥3 cm on final pathology.

Methods: Patient details were collected from three separate databases: the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Radical Hysterectomy Database, the SUCCOR Study Group Database, and the Multi-institutional Database LATAM (encompassing Latin America and Europe).

Background And Objective: To evaluate the association between widefield swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (WF SS-OCTA) and visual function in healthy eyes.

Patients And Methods: Fifty-seven eyes of 45 patients were evaluated with visual acuity (VA), contrast sensitivity (CS), and WF SS-OCTA (3 × 3, 6 × 6, and 12 × 12 mm images) on the same day. Mixed-effects multivariable regression analyses were performed.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the impact of second look events (SLEs) for applicants in the 2023 Virtual Radiation Oncology residency match, assessing how they affect applicant and program evaluations.
  • A survey of applicants and program directors revealed that while many applicants were invited to SLEs, a significant number chose not to attend due to various reasons, including cost and logistics.
  • Program directors largely viewed SLEs as optional and assured applicants that participation would not impact their ranking decisions, though attending SLEs did appear to influence candidates' final rank order lists.

Engineered heart tissues have been created to study cardiac biology and disease in a setting that more closely mimics heart muscle than 2D monolayer culture. Previously published studies suggest that geometrically anisotropic micro-environments are crucial for inducing " like" physiology from immature cardiomyocytes. We hypothesized that the degree of cardiomyocyte alignment and prestress within engineered tissues is regulated by tissue geometry and, subsequently, drives electrophysiological development.

Background: Opioid over-prescription is wasteful and contributes to the opioid crisis. We implemented a personalized tiered discharge opioid protocol and education on opioid disposal to minimize over-prescription.

Objective: To evaluate the intervention by investigating opioid use post-discharge for women undergoing abdomino-pelvic surgery, and patient adherence to opioid disposal education.
