Depression is common among people living with HCV and HIV, which contributes to health services utilization (HSU). It is unknown whether successful HCV treatment affects this. We examined depressive symptoms and HSU in people co-infected with HIV-HCV and their association with sustained virologic response (SVR) during the direct-acting antiviral era.

In particular, the mechanism of breaking 31, 41, 51, and 52 prime knots has been studied using two very different models to represent the polymer: (1) the generic coarse-grained (CG) bead model of polymer physics and (2) a state-of-the-art machine learned atomistic neural network (NN) potential for polyethylene derived from electronic structure calculations. While there is a broad overall agreement between the results on the influence of the pulling rate on chain rupture based on the CG and atomistic NN models, for the simple 31 and 41 knots, significant differences are found for the more complex 51 and 52 knots.

Drawing on associations identified in real-world evidence from a retrospective chart review at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, we conducted a cost-consequences analysis of CGM use versus self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG), inclusive of neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) spending. In the base-case analysis assuming per-label CGM use and per-guideline finger-stick frequency, the per-person cost was $16,254 for CGM versus $15,182 for SMBG.

Synchrotron microbeam radiation therapy (MRT), spatially fractionated radiation delivered at ultrahigh dose rates, shows remarkable normal tissue sparing with excellent local control in some models. Some MRT regimens trigger an antitumor immune response that contributes not only to the local but also to systemic treatment efficacy.
