Background And Objectives: Some Minnesota clinicians perceive that the incidence of prophylactic vitamin K refusal is increasing, yet the actual incidence and which populations are most likely to refuse is unknown. Our objective is to identify the incidence of vitamin K refusal and to characterize the maternal-newborn dyads with increased refusal rates.

Methods: This retrospective multi-institution study analyzed vitamin K refusal in newborns born from 2015 to 2019.

Long-term Outcomes of Lupus Nephritis in Comparison to Other CKD Etiologies.

Introduction: Little is known regarding the comparison of cardiovascular and kidney outcomes between lupus nephritis (LN) and other etiologies of chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Methods: Using data from the Swedish Renal Registry (2006-2021), we compared long-term outcomes between patients with LN-CKD and patients with CKD due to primary glomerular diseases (PGD) and other CKD causes (Other-CKD, mainly diabetes and nephroangiosclerosis). Adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) of mortality, major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and kidney replacement therapy (KRT) were estimated using Cox proportional hazard models.

The importance of organisational culture for health system resilience: A qualitative analysis of factors that supported health care workers in Germany during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Health system resilience is defined as the ability of a system to prepare, manage, and learn from shocks. This study investigates the resilience of the German health system by analysing the system-related factors that supported health care workers, a key building block of the system, during the COVID-19 pandemic. We thematically analysed data from 18 semi-structured interviews with key informants from management, policy and academia, 17 in-depth interviews with health care workers, and 10 focus group discussions with health care workers.

Subcutaneous Panniculitis-Like T-Cell Lymphoma Presenting as a Targetoid Plaque in a Pediatric Patient: A Case Report and Review of Literature.

Subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTCL) is a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma characterized by subcutaneous nodules, indurated plaques, erythema, and cellular infiltrates in the subcutaneous fat. Biopsies show neoplastic cells expressing cytotoxic T-cell markers and displaying moderate cytologic atypia while sparing the dermis and epidermis and showing variable degrees of necrosis, hemorrhage, and inflammatory changes. We describe a pediatric case of SPTCL in a 6-year-old boy, presenting with an unusual targetoid plaque and systemic symptoms, who showed significant improvement on systemic immunosuppressants without chemotherapy.

Microcephaly protein ANKLE2 promotes Zika virus replication.

Orthoflaviviruses are positive-sense single-stranded RNA viruses that hijack host proteins to promote their own replication. Zika virus (ZIKV) is infamous among orthoflaviviruses for its association with severe congenital birth defects, notably microcephaly. We previously mapped ZIKV-host protein interactions and identified the interaction between ZIKV non-structural protein 4A (NS4A) and host microcephaly protein ankyrin repeat and LEM domain-containing 2 (ANKLE2).
