Analysis of systemic serum vancomycin levels following intraarticular application in primary total joint arthroplasty.

Introduction: Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a serious complication following primary total joint arthroplasty (TJA). PJI accounts for 15-25% of revision surgeries, therefore it is associated with PJI is associated with substantial patient morbidity and mortality as well as increased healthcare expenditures due to complex treatment strategies. Recently, intraoperative local application of vancomycin powder is increasingly being used in primary total hip and knee arthroplasty (THA, TKA) as an additive strategy for PJI prevention.

Darier disease: Current insights and challenges in pathogenesis and management.

Darier disease is a rare autosomal dominant genodermatosis caused by mutations in the ATP2A2 gene encoding for sarcoendoplasmic reticulum Ca ATPase isoform 2. The skin disease is characterized by a chronic relapsing course with recurrent reddish-brown keratotic papules and plaques located mainly in seborrhoeic areas. Due to chronic inflammation and epidermal barrier defects of the skin, patients often develop severe bacterial and viral superinfections.

Effect of tibiofemoral alignment on simulated knee contact forces during gait in mechanically and kinematically aligned total knee arthroplasty patients.

The goal of the study was to apply a musculoskeletal knee model that considers individual tibiofemoral alignment (TFA) and to investigate its effect on knee contact force (KCF) during gait in mechanically (MA) and kinematically aligned (KA) total knee arthroplasty (TKA) patients. Total, medial, and lateral KCF was estimated from pre- and postoperative gait data of TKA patients (MA: n = 26, KA: n = 22). Preoperative KCF was compared between the generic and the adapted model using t-tests and statistical parametric mapping (SPM).

Utilization of Rehabilitation Services and Rehabilitation-Related Patient Satisfaction Following Total Knee Arthroplasty-Results of the Prospective FInGK Study.

(1) Background: This study aims to examine rehabilitation service utilization among total knee arthroplasty (TKA) subjects and the influencing factors associated with rehabilitation-related satisfaction. (2) Methods: The FInGK study was a single-center prospective cohort study. Patients (≥18 years) undergoing primary or revision TKA in a German university hospital were consecutively recruited between December 2019-May 2021.

[Digital tools in primary total knee arthroplasty-Prevalence in the German-speaking region].

Background: Digital tools are being increasingly used worldwide in primary knee arthroplasty. This study aimed to analyze the utilization density of digital tools, the preferred alignment strategies, and the obstacles and benefits of implementing these technologies in German-speaking countries.

Materials And Methods: An online survey with 57 questions about digital tools in primary knee arthroplasty and their usage was conducted among members of the Arthroplasty Working Group (AE).
