Knockout of the golgin giantin leads to skeletal and craniofacial defects driven by poorly studied changes in glycosylation and extracellular matrix deposition. Here, we sought to determine how giantin impacts the production of healthy bone tissue by focusing on the main protein component of the osteoid, type I collagen. Giantin mutant zebrafish accumulate multiple spontaneous fractures in their caudal fin, suggesting their bones may be more brittle.

Steroid-Resistant Graves' Orbitopathy Treated with Tocilizumab in Real-World Clinical Practice: A 9-Year Single-Center Experience.

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of tocilizumab use for the treatment of active steroid-resistant Graves' orbitopathy (GO). A retrospective longitudinal study was conducted by reviewing the medical records at a single center between November 2009 and December 2018. A total of 114 patients with steroid-resistant Graves' orbitopathy were examined and treated with tocilizumab, of which 54 adults met the inclusion criteria.

[Thyroid orbitopathy (pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment)].

Purpose: To review and to update the current diagnostic and therapeutic approaches and the pathogenesis of thyroid orbitopathy. To propose a practical, basic and precocious approach based in the knowledge of the disorder.

Methods: Literature review and exposition of our experience in the management of thyroid orbitopathy.
