The impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic among patients with chronic liver disease is unknown. Given the high prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), we determined the predictors of mortality and hospital resource use among patients with NAFLD admitted with COVID-19 by using electronic medical records data for adult patients with COVID-19 hospitalized in a multihospital health system who were discharged between March and December 2020. NAFLD was diagnosed by imaging or liver biopsy without other liver diseases.

The lone theoretical study on this reaction reported an unphysically large barrier of 66 kcal mol for abstraction of an oxygen atom from O by CH SO. Herein, we demonstrate that this result stems from improper use of MP2 with a single-reference, unrestricted Hartree-Fock (UHF) wavefunction.

Methods And Results: Using Illumina data, 17 primer pairs were developed in populations of . The primers amplified motifs from tri- to hexanucleotide repeats with one to 17 alleles per locus.
Background: Hepatic expression of Sonic Hedgehog (SHH) is associated with Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and development of Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Hepatic SHH detection increases with the diagnosis of NASH. This pilot study was designed to confirm that staining for SHH is useful in NASH diagnosis and determine whether quantification of staining by computer assisted morphometry (CAM) can be used to assess severity of ballooning degeneration.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTransition-metal carbenes are useful in organometallic chemistry due to their demonstrated use as catalysts in carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions. Yet the prototypical transition-metal carbenes, consisting of a single metal center doubly bonded to a methylene ligand and surrounded by carbonyls, have been elusive to experimental synthesis. This theoretical work examines the structures and properties of nine prototypical transition-metal carbenes.
