Experiences of Simulated Phone Death Notification.

Background: Physicians perform many difficult skills, but notifying loved ones about the death of a family member is a particularly challenging skill that requires specific training. Descriptions of such training are lacking in the literature. We developed a formative standardised patient encounter on death notification over the telephone for fourth-year medical students and evaluated their qualitative perspectives, including emotional safety.

Trends, demographics and reoperation rates of periacetabular osteotomy: an analysis from the PearlDiver database.

This study aims to examine the trends and demographics of periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) in the United States from 2016 to 2020 using a large healthcare database analysis. The PearlDiver database was queried for patients who underwent a PAO procedure starting with current procedural terminology (CPT) codes 27299, S2115 and 27146. Subsequently, the population was filtered for patients being ages 12-50, having an inpatient charge-type and those having a length of stay of at least 1 day.

River water temperatures are increasing globally, particularly in urban systems. In winter, wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) effluent inputs are of particular concern because they increase water temperatures from near freezing to ~7-15 °C. Recent laboratory studies suggest that warm overwinter temperatures impact the reproductive timing of some fishes.
