Phyllodes tumors of the breast: Adjuvant radiation therapy revisited.

Background: Phyllodes tumors (PT) are rare entity and surgical resection is the cornerstone of treatment. No standard of care exists regarding adjuvant treatment especially radiation therapy (RT).

Patients And Methods: We analyzed all patients with non-metastatic, resected phyllodes tumors who presented to our institution from January 2005 through December 2019.

Once Daily Versus Twice Daily External Beam Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation: A Randomized Prospective Study.

Purpose: The aim of the current study was to compare toxicity, cosmesis, and local control between the once daily and the twice daily fractionation schemes for external beam accelerated partial breast irradiation.

Methods And Materials: From December 2012 to June 2018, we enrolled 113 patients with ductal carcinoma in situ or invasive breast cancer, node negative disease, and tumors less than 3 cm in size to receive accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) to a total dose of 38.5 Gy over 10 fractions given either once (oAPBI) or twice daily (tAPBI).

Prevalence of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Infection and the Association with Survival in Saudi Patients with Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) shows wide disparities, association with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, and prognosis. We aimed at determining HPV prevalence, and its prognostic association with overall survival (OS) in Saudi HNSCC patients. The study included 285 oropharyngeal and oral-cavity HNSCC patients.

Effects of nicotine on rat adrenal gland: crosstalk between oxidative and inflammatory markers, and amelioration by melatonin.

Although the risks of smoking are well known, the effects of exposure to nicotine on endocrine functions remain unclear. We investigated the deleterious effects of nicotine on the adrenal gland and the mechanisms of these changes in rats. The role of melatonin in ameliorating pathological changes also was investigated.

Combined gemfibrozil (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha agonist) with reduced steroid dose gives a similar management picture as the full steroid dose in a rat adjuvant-induced arthritis model.

The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of combined gemfibrozil with prednisolone in the management of adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA) rat model. Seventy two adult male Wistar albino rats were divided equally into 1-control group, three diseased groups: 2- Adjuvant induced arthritis (AIA), 3- high fat diet (HF), and 4- combined AIA-HF, and treated groups: 5- gemfibrozil 30 mg/kg treated AIA group (AIA-G) and the combined AIA-HF treated groups: 6- prednisolone equivalent to human 10 mg (AIA-HF-P10), 7- prednisolone equivalent to human 5 mg (AIA-HF-P5) 8- gemfibrozil (HF-AIA-G) and 9- combined treatment (HF-AIA-G-P5) HF diet represents a precipitating factor for knee arthritis. Gemfibrozil improved the inflammatory findings in both AIA and AIA-HF groups.
