Introduction: Smoking during pregnancy (SDP) seems to paradoxically decrease the likelihood of preeclampsia. We aimed to investigate the association between smoking and isolated proteinuria during pregnancy. In addition, we investigated the associations and potential interaction between smoking and proteinuria on the risk for preterm birth.

The drug development landscape is expanding to include drug modalities such as PROteolysis-TArgeting Chimeras (PROTACs) and peptides, offering possibilities for previously intractable biological targets. However, with their size and chemical nature, they diverge from established frameworks for the prediction of oral bioavailability. This evolution to larger and more complex molecules necessitates new methodologies and prediction models to continuously expand on bioavailability guidelines.

Glycemic status and effect on mortality: Multifactorial prevention programme for cardiovascular disease in Finnish primary care.

Aims: To compare 13-year mortality rates in normoglycemic, prediabetic and diabetic subjects attending a community-based screening and intervention programme.

Methods: Population survey identified 2569 cardiovascular disease (CVD) white risk subjects aged 45-70 years and without manifested CVD or diabetes. Oral glucose tolerance test was performed, and multifactorial intervention was provided.

Interaction of maternal smoking and gestational diabetes mellitus on newborn head circumference and birthweight.

Introduction: Maternal smoking during pregnancy and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) have opposite effects on fetal growth during pregnancy. The aim of the study was to evaluate the interaction of smoking during pregnancy and gestational diabetes mellitus on head circumference and birthweight of newborns.

Material And Methods: The study included all primiparous women with singleton pregnancies (n = 290 602) without previously diagnosed diabetes or hypertension in Finland between 2006 and 2018.

Concurrent cecal lipoma and Crohn's disease in a pediatric patient: A conservative approach.

We report the case of a 14-year-old patient with a known history of Crohn's disease who was incidentally diagnosed with an asymptomatic cecal lipoma. A routine surveillance colonoscopy as part of the management of the patient's Crohn's Disease revealed a well-defined, submucosal, yellowish mass in the patient's cecum. Histopathological examination of a biopsy specimen revealed submucosal adipose tissue, consistent with the endoscopic images showing the characteristic appearance of the lipoma.
