Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and radar technology have benefitted from breakthroughs in recent decades. Both technologies have found applications independently of each other, but together, they also unlock new possibilities, especially for remote sensing applications. One of the key factors for a remote sensing system is the estimation of the flight attitude.

Chemotherapy-induced memory loss ("chemobrain") can occur following treatment with the widely used chemotherapeutic agent doxorubicin (DOX). However, the mechanisms through which DOX induces cognitive dysfunction are not clear, and there are no commercially available therapies for its treatment or prevention. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the therapeutic potential of phenyl-2-aminoethyl selenide (PAESe), an antioxidant drug previously demonstrated to reduce cardiotoxicity associated with DOX treatment, against DOX-induced chemobrain.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study compares two types of radiotherapy for breast cancer patients: hypofractionated whole-breast irradiation (HF+boost) and conventionally fractionated whole-breast irradiation (CF+boost) to see which is more effective in preventing local cancer return.
  • - Out of 128 patients treated with HF+boost and 127 with CF+boost, those receiving HF+boost experienced significantly lower rates of severe skin reactions (16.4% vs. 44.1%), while severe lung complications were similar in both groups.
  • - Both treatment methods showed comparable long-term outcomes in terms of local control, metastases-free survival, and overall survival, with HF+boost providing a better side effect profile.

Article Synopsis
  • * Out of 489 patients, the prevalence of grade ≥2 ARD was 25.3% and RP was 2.5%, with factors like age, treatment type, and systemic therapy influencing the likelihood of ARD.
  • * Understanding these risk factors can help healthcare providers monitor patients more closely during and after radiotherapy.

Background/aim: During the last 10-15 years, alternative regimens for adjuvant radiotherapy (RT) of breast cancer have become more popular, including simultaneous integrated (SIB) instead of sequential boosts (SEB). We present long-term outcomes after conventional fractionation (CF) plus SIB vs. CF+SEB.
