Multiparameter analysis of small non-flying mammals' response to forest restoration post-bauxite mining in eastern Amazonia.

Bauxite mining has been caused severe changes in the natural ecosystems of the Amazon, but the restoration of these areas is mandatory by federal law in Brazil. The recolonization of fauna is crucial to establishing the ecological functions of recovering forests, and the small nonflying mammals can stand out in this process. Assessing taxonomic and functional diversity parameters, we demonstrated that in the early stages of forest recovery post-bauxite mining, between 6 and 11 years, it is possible to restore approximately 45% of the richness of small non-flying mammal species from the original habitats, that in this case were altered Primary Forests.

Playing a serious game to increase fertility awareness: perceptions of adolescents, parents and teachers.

Despite the recognition of the importance of increasing fertility awareness, levels remain low. This study evaluated the perceptions of 'FActs!', a serious game aimed at improving adolescents' fertility awareness.

Off-pump versus on-pump coronary artery bypass grafting in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Introduction: Off-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery (OPCAB) has been suggested as superior to on-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery (ONCAB) in certain high-risk subgroups, but its benefit in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) remains controversial. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate OPCAB versus ONCAB outcomes in COPD patients.

Methods: We followed PRISMA guidelines and searched PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library in August 2024 for studies comparing OPCAB and ONCAB in COPD patients.

This study investigated whether chick quality and breeder age influence the metabolic profile of layer chick meconium.

Sclerosing bone dysplasias: a pictorial essay.

Sclerosing bone dysplasias encompass abnormalities in bone density, divided into hereditary and nonhereditary forms. Primarily diagnosed through radiography, they are often incidental findings. Among the hereditary forms, the following stand out: osteopetrosis, osteopoikilosis, multiple diaphyseal sclerosis (ribbing disease), osteopathia striata, and Camurati-Engelmann disease.
