NCCN guideline concordance in colon and rectal cancer patients within a comprehensive health system.

Background: The National Comprehensive Cancer Care Network (NCCN) provides recommendations for patients with colorectal cancer. Concordance with evidence-based guidelines improves outcomes. Our objectives were to 1) examine rates of guideline non-concordance in a large vertically integrated health system; 2) examine factors associated with non-concordant care, and 3) identify geographical patterns of non-concordant care.

Anemia in children aged 6-59 months was significantly associated with maternal anemia status in rural Zimbabwe.

Globally, anemia is a public health problem affecting mostly women of reproductive age (WRA,  = 452) and children aged 6-59 months ( = 452) from low- and lower-middle-income countries. This cross-sectional study assessed the prevalence and determinants of anemia in WRA and children aged 6-59 months in rural Zimbabwe. The venous blood sample was measured for hemoglobin utilizing a HemoCue machine.

Ultrasound-Guided Enteropexy for Repair of Ostomy Prolapse.

Enterostomies provide fecal diversion for numerous conditions, but anatomical complications-prolapse, stricture, and retraction-occur in up to 25%. Given up to 76% of these complications require surgical intervention, effective minimally invasive repair techniques for their management are needed. This article describes a new technique for prolapse repair utilizing image-guided surgery for incisionless repair of ostomy prolapse.

Linkages between soil, crop, livestock, and human selenium status in Sub-Saharan Africa: a scoping review.

Selenium (Se) is essential for human health, however, data on population Se status and agriculture-nutrition-health linkages are limited in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The scoping review aims to identify linkages between Se in soils/crops, dietary Se intakes, and livestock and human Se status in SSA. Online databases, organisational websites and grey literature were used to identify articles.

Background: Folate is essential for the synthesis and integrity of DNA, normal cell formation, and body growth. Folate deficiency among women of reproductive age (WRA) increases the risk of poor birth outcomes including neural tube defect (NTD)-affected pregnancies. Folate status is largely dependent on dietary intakes.
