Validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the orthognathic quality of life questionnaire in patients with dentofacial deformity.

Background: Due to the lack of a specific quality of life (QoL) survey on dentofacial deformities (DFD) for Turkish speakers, the present research aimed to perform a translation of the English version of the Orthognathic Quality of Life Questionnaire (OQLQ) into Turkish (the OQLQ-TR) and provide cultural adaptation to the Turkish population.

Material And Methods: The process of this cross-cultural adaptation followed the six stages given in the guidelines that were proposed by Beaton et al. (2000), which comprised the following: 1) performing the initial translation, 2) synthesizing the translation, 3) performing the back translation, 4) presenting it to the expert committee, and 5) testing the prefinal version.

Anti-arthritic effect of chicken embryo tissue hydrolyzate against adjuvant arthritis in rats (X-ray microtomographic and histopathological analysis).

Finding new, safe strategies to prevent and control rheumatoid arthritis is an urgent task. Bioactive peptides and peptide-rich protein hydrolyzate represent a new trend in the development of functional foods and nutraceuticals. The resulting tissue hydrolyzate of the chicken embryo (CETH) has been evaluated for acute toxicity and tested against chronic arthritis induced by Freund's full adjuvant (modified Mycobacterium butyricum) in rats.

Effects of Orthognathic Surgery on Voice Characteristics.

Purpose: Orthognathic surgery not only corrects dentofacial deformities but also affects some vital structures involving voice production. The primary aim of this study was to analyze the effects of bimaxillary orthognathic surgery on voice characteristics of patients with class II and III skeletal deformities; the second aim was to evaluate possible associations among acoustic parameters, pharyngeal airway, and skeletal changes after surgery.

Materials And Methods: Using a prospective cohort study design, we enrolled a sample of patients who underwent bimaxillary orthognathic surgery in the university hospital between January 2018 and January 2019.

Effect of Botulinum Toxin Type A on Mandibular Fracture Healing: An Experimental Study in Rabbits.

Purpose: The effect of botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) on fracture healing of the long bones is controversial, and no controlled clinical or experimental study has investigated the effect of BTX-A on mandibular fractures. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether BTX-A injection into the masseter muscles affects bone healing by reducing the displacing forces in an unfavorable mandibular fracture model.

Ocular injuries among oral and maxillofacial surgeons: Have high risk or not? An overview of a two-centered experience.

Background: Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are occupationally exposed to ocular injuries via bodily fluid (ie, blood or saliva), which can carry substantial latent risks, both bacterial and viral. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of ocular injury and infection among oral and maxillofacial surgeons during outpatient procedures.

Methods: Data were collected from a consecutive series of 500 surgeries conducted by 26 resident surgeons via a questionnaire.
