Background: Despite guideline directed opioid prescribing after surgery, many patients retain excess opioids. Leftover pills increase the risk for misuse, diversion, and dependency. It is unclear whether interventions applied in routine clinical practice can increase excess opioid disposal rates.

Small single-chain variable fragments (scFv) are promising biomolecules to inhibit and neutralize toxins and to act as antivenoms. In this work, we aimed to produce a functional scFv-6009FV in the yeast Pichia pastoris, which inhibits the pure Cn2 neurotoxin and the whole venom of Centruroides noxius. We were able to achieve yields of up to 31.

The SAMPL9 host-guest blind challenge: an overview of binding free energy predictive accuracy.

We report the results of the SAMPL9 host-guest blind challenge for predicting binding free energies. The challenge focused on macrocycles from pillar[]-arene and cyclodextrin host families, including WP6, and bCD and HbCD. A variety of methods were used by participants to submit binding free energy predictions.

This study aims to examine the role of social support and stressful life events as risk factors for antenatal depression in nulliparous and multiparous women. The sample included 1,524 pregnant women recruited from an obstetrics setting at the end of the first trimester of pregnancy from two Spanish tertiary-care public hospitals.

Investigations into the effects of vaccination and diet composition on post-weaning diarrhea and growth performance in pigs.

Objectives: Pigs often experience slow growth and enteric disease problems during the early post-weaning period. The objectives were to evaluate effects of a live oral vaccine on post-weaning diarrhea under on-farm conditions and to assess impacts of diet composition on growth and enteric health in the early nursery phase of production.

Procedures And Results: In a series of trials, even when enterotoxigenic (ETEC) was present, post-weaning diarrhea was usually associated with other causes and not ETEC.
