Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated whether the running power (RP) measured by the Stryd footpod device remains consistent when switching between training shoes and high-performance racing shoes (HPRS).
  • - Fourteen trained runners participated in treadmill tests, revealing that RP was not significantly different across shoe types, but the metabolic power (W) was about 5% lower when wearing HPRS.
  • - The findings suggest that while RP and W are related within shoe types, runners should take their shoe type into account when using RP to estimate W for both training and racing.

Mass-shooting events are of increasing public and scholarly concern in the United States. While research into the causes of these events and possibilities for prevention is growing, our knowledge of the impacts of mass shootings on survivors is limited. This brief report examines current research on mass-shooting victimization and proposes how adjacent literature can assist in developing a broader knowledge base.

Definitive diagnosis of endometriosis is established by histologic confirmation in tissue from surgically visualized lesions; however, the diagnostic sensitivity of this approach varies widely. We hypothesized that incomplete tissue block sampling may contribute to false-negative diagnosis, particularly if the focus of endometriosis in the tissue section is scant. This study defined the diagnostic value of deeper level tissue sections in cases in which none of the specimen parts contained endometriosis on the initial tissue sections, using the World Health Organization essential criteria for diagnosis of endometriosis (presence of endometrial glands and endometrial stroma).

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers have engineered a bispecific antibody called glycofusion bispecific (GBi) that links the α-dG protein to the β-DG protein to potentially improve muscle function in affected individuals.
  • * The study found that adding a sugar mixture containing uridine, galactose, and manganese ions (Mn) to the culture medium enhanced the matriglycan modification and binding activity of the GBi antibody, with Mn being especially critical for
