Introduction: Salivary Lactate Dehydrogenase (sLDH) levels seem to be higher in patients with Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) and Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders (OPMD) than a control group (CG).
Methods: Case-control study. Patients with OPMD [oral leukoplakia (OL) and oral lichen planus (OLP)] and OSCC who attended two services in Spain were selected.
Importance: Despite the absence of high-quality evidence of its safety and effectiveness, minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is increasingly used to treat advanced epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC).
Objective: To assess the feasibility of conducting a full-scale randomized clinical trial (RCT) designed to compare the efficacy of MIS vs laparotomy in patients with advanced-stage EOC and a complete or partial response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT).
Design, Setting, And Participants: This lead-in pilot phase of LANCE (Laparoscopic Cytoreduction After Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy), an international, open-label, noninferiority RCT, opened to enrollment in September 2020 and enrolled the 100th eligible patient in February 2023.
Background: The population over 65 years of age is key in the decision to donate organs in its different aspects. We sought to analyze the attitude toward organ donation from a relative among people over 65 years of age and to determine the psychosocial variables that may influence their attitude.
Methods: The study population consisted of citizens over 65 years of age.
Objective: The primary aim of our study was to compare tumor size assessment by pre-operative evaluation (physical examination and/or imaging) with tumor size on final pathology. As a secondary outcome, we evaluated the rate of adjuvant treatment in patients who underwent radical hysterectomy whose tumor size was ≥3 cm on final pathology.
Methods: Patient details were collected from three separate databases: the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Radical Hysterectomy Database, the SUCCOR Study Group Database, and the Multi-institutional Database LATAM (encompassing Latin America and Europe).
Background: The adoption of robotic techniques in liver surgery introduces significant challenges for their safe integration within hepatobiliary surgery units. This study is designed to investigate the complexities associated with establishing a robotic surgery program.
Methods: Data on robotic hepatobiliary surgeries were prospectively collected from October 2021 to October 2023.
