Grade I-II blunt traumatic aortic injuries (BTAIs) are typically managed conservatively, but their long-term progression is poorly understood. Chronic pseudoaneurysms may develop years after the injury, often remaining asymptomatic and being incidentally diagnosed. Two cases of post-traumatic aortic pseudoaneurysms, detected 20 and 25 years following conservatively managed BTAIs, are reported.

Combining computational network structure analysis algorithms with a zebrafish forward genetic screen, we identified 24 new zebrafish mutants that display impaired intrahepatic biliary network formation. Complementation tests suggested these 24 mutations affect 24 different genes.

It is elicited either by cell-intrinsic mechanisms such as progressive telomere shortening or due to the extrinsic stress-related factors, which via p53-p21 and p16-pRB tumor suppressor pathways signal cells to cease proliferation. A proper identification and characterization of senescent cells is necessary to understand the process of aging, age-related pathologies, and the development of therapeutics to treat age-related dysfunctions.
