Background And Aims: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) determined a paradigm shift in the treatment of patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis but data on very long-term durability are lacking. We sought to evaluate the clinical and hemodynamic outcomes of the CoreValve porcine pericardial self-expanding bioprosthesis at 12-year follow-up.

Methods: 882 inoperable or high-risk patients were treated with the CoreValve bioprosthesis in 8 Italian high-volume centers between 2007 and 2011.

Article Synopsis
  • A study investigated the effects of continuous mask use on oral health, focusing on two groups: those wearing just an FFP2 mask and those wearing an FFP2 mask covered by a surgical mask.
  • Results showed that the group wearing both masks experienced changes such as increased saliva volume and pH, decreased Candida albicans levels, and improved saliva rehydration.
  • The findings suggest that prolonged use of combined masks could lead to significant oral changes, highlighting the importance of understanding mask usage effects on oral health.

Aim: In this study we present the new postoperative oro-myofunctional protocol following frenectomy by atmospheric plasma associated with a systemic postural approach, which determines functional recovery through body symmetry restoration based on the concepts of the French "Mezieres Method" and postural bench.

Methods: A total of 130 patients (76 female, 54 male) affected by ankyloglossia of class III/IV, according to Kotlow's Tongue Tie Classification have been treated with atmospheric plasma followed by oro-myofunctional therapy associated with a systemic postural approach. The overall change, improved/worsened speech, feeding, or sleep has been evaluated through the 10 points Parents Speech Satisfaction (PSS) Score after one week and two months.
