Overview of Legal Measures for Managing Workplace COVID-19 Infection Risk in Several Asia-Pacific Countries.

Background: Despite the lack of official COVID-19 statistics, various workplaces and occupations have been at the center of COVID-19 outbreaks. We aimed to compare legal measures and governance established for managing COVID-19 infection risks at workplaces in nine Asia and Pacific countries and to recommend key administrative measures.

Methods: We collected information on legal measures and governance from both general citizens and workers regarding infection risks such as COVID-19 from industrial hygiene professionals in nine countries (Indonesia, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Republic of the Philippines, Republic of Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand) using a structured questionnaire.

HLA-A, -B, -C, and -DRB1 genotyping of 1000 Northern Irish individuals from Belfast, Northern Ireland in the United Kingdom.

One thousand individuals from Belfast, Northern Ireland were genotyped at the HLA-A, -B, -C and -DRB1 loci using sequence-specific oligonucleotide probe methods. HLA-A locus genotypes display a minor Hardy-Weinberg (HW) deviation (p=0.0375); HLA-B, -C and -DRB1 genotypes are consistent with expected HW proportions.

4''-O-(omega-Quinolylamino-alkylamino)propionyl derivatives of selected macrolides with the activity against the key erythromycin resistant respiratory pathogens.

Four macrolides-6-O-methyl-8a-aza-8a-homoerythromycin, clarithromycin, azithromycin and azithromycin 11,12-cyclic carbonate, have been selected for the construction of a series of new quinolone derivatives. The quinolone moiety is connected to the macrolide scaffold via a diaminoaklyl 4''-O-propionyl ester chain of varying length. At the terminus the linker is attached via one of the nitrogen atoms in the linker at C(6) or C(7) of the quinolone.

Novel 8a-aza-8a-homoerythromycin--4''-(3-substituted-amino)propionates with broad spectrum antibacterial activity.

Fifteen-membered 8a-aza-8a-homoerythromycins derived from either erythromycin or clarithromycin have been acylated to form 4''-O-propenoyl derivative. These functionalized analogues underwent Michael reaction with primary or secondary amines to afford novel 8a-aza-8a-homoerythromycin-4''-(3-substituted-amino)propionates. This preparative sequence was adapted so that analogues could be made by parallel synthesis.

Web-based image transmission: a novel approach to aid communication in split liver transplantation.

Background: Split liver transplantation (SLT) is technically demanding and requires good communication between transplant centers. The recipient surgeon receiving a shipped split liver needs detailed information on allocation of inflow and outflow vessels. We describe the first use of an image transmission system to facilitate SLT.
