Objectives: Patients who are not responding to injectable and/or vacuum oral pharmacological treatments can receive a penile prosthesis. Three types of penile prostheses are used in France: rigid, semi-rigid and inflatable prostheses 3-piece or 2-piece. We have assessed the National surgical insertion practices between 2006 and 2013 (number of prostheses insertions, types, procedure locations, number of surgeons and distribution [public or private sectors]).

Article Synopsis
  • Complete trisomy of the short arm of chromosome 18 (18p) is extremely rare, with only 24 documented cases, leading to challenges in defining a consistent phenotype, though some common features include intellectual disability, facial dysmorphism, and epilepsy.
  • A unique case is reported of an individual with isolated trisomy 18p translocated to chromosome 14, who showed facial dysmorphism, mild intellectual disability, and non-obstructive azoospermia, indicating fertility problems associated with this condition.
  • This case suggests azoospermia could be a new symptom of trisomy 18p syndrome, potentially caused by meiotic defects or gene overexpression affecting testicular development.
