[Update of the recommendations of the Bacteraemia Zero Project].

The Bacteraemia Zero (BZ) Project was the first of the Zero Projects to be implemented in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), achieving a decrease in catheter-related infection rates below those recommended by the quality standards of scientific societies. Following the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in ICU, a significant increase in these infection rates has been observed. Increase in infection rates and the need to incorporate the best available evidence into clinical practice justifies the need to update the recommendations of the BZ project.

Different training programs decrease blood pressure during submaximal exercise.

Objective: Our purpose was to study the effects of aerobic, resistance, and mixed (aerobic and resistance) training programs on blood pressure, both at rest and during submaximal exercise in healthy people.

Methods: We randomized 39 physically active, healthy participants into aerobic, resistance, and mixed (aerobic and resistance) exercise groups, and a control group. The exercise groups trained for 60 min three times/week for 6 weeks, and a submaximal cycle ergometer test was performed before and after training, and 3 weeks after detraining.

Physical effects of a reconditioning programme in a group of chronic fatigue syndrome patients.

Background: Physical exercise can be part of treatment in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), where the aim would be to improve strength and endurance through increasing physical exercise (intensity and time) without aggravating symptomatology. The present study examines the effectiveness of a reconditioning programme (focusing on strength, endurance, balance and propioception) for achieving maximum functional capacity according to the clinical status of CFS patients.

Methods: Sixty-eight patients with CFS were randomly assigned to two groups: a control group (CG) comprising 22 patients and an active group (AG) of 46 patients, the latter being invited to take part in a functional reconditioning programme based on 12 weeks of laboratory training followed by a further 12-week home training period.

Organ donation in the Basque country: 18 years experience.

Purpose: We reviewed of the trends in organ donation within a coordinated transplant program over the last 18 years.

Methods: Two thousand three hundred and fifty five potential donors (PD) were evaluated in 18 years including 1282 who were effective donors (EDs) and the 4081 harvested organs. A retrospective analysis of various parameters was performed comparing four different periods: 1981 to 1986 (P0); 1987 to 1992 (P1); 1993 to 1998 (P2); and 1999 to 2004 (P3).

Nursing research in Spain: bibliometrics of references of research papers in the decade 1985-1994.

Background: Spain is one of the few European countries to have recently totally incorporated the study of nursing into the university sector. Bibliometric studies may be of a great help for the consolidation of nursing research.

Aim Of The Study: The aim of this paper is to describe bibliographic references in Spanish nursing research papers and their evolution over a decade.
