Diagnostics and treatment of differentiated thyroid carcinoma in children - Guidelines of the Polish National Scientific Societies, 2024 Update.

The rapid progress made in recent years in thyroid cancer research has necessitated the systematic updating of current clinical recommendations. This update presents the evidence-based management of differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) and medullary thyroid carcinoma in children, including preoperative diagnostics, surgical management, radioiodine therapy in DTC treatment with L-thyroxine, disease monitoring, treatment of advanced disease, and finally, consequences of thyroid cancer treatment. Each recommendation is evaluated regarding its strength (Strength of Recommendation; SoR) and the quality of supporting data (QoE - Quality of Evidence).

Theranostics in Renal Cell Carcinoma-A Step Towards New Opportunities or a Dead End-A Systematic Review.

Renal cell carcinoma is one of the most aggressive urogenital malignancies, with an increasing number of cases worldwide. The majority of cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage, as this form of growth is typically silent. An accurate evaluation of the extent of the disease is crucial for selecting the most appropriate treatment approach.

Role of [F]FDG PET/CT in the management of follicular cell-derived thyroid carcinoma.

Follicular cell-derived thyroid carcinomas constitute the majority of thyroid malignancies. This heterogeneous group of tumours includes well differentiated, poorly differentiated, and undifferentiated forms, which have distinct pathological features, clinical behaviour, and prognosis. Positron emission tomography with 2-[F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose combined with computed tomography ([F]FDG PET/CT) is an imaging modality used in routine clinical practice for oncological patients.

Core needle biopsy: an efficacious adjunct to cytological diagnosis in thyroid tumours suspected of anaplastic carcinoma - single-centre experience.

Introduction: Ultrasound-guided fine- needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) remains the primary method for diagnosing thyroid nodules, providing adequate information for definitive diagnosis and treatment decisions in most cases. However, cytological examinations sometimes yield inconclusive or non-diagnostic results. For rapidly growing tumours with suspected malignancy, a swift and accurate diagnosis is crucial to initiate timely treatment.

Polish diagnostic and therapeutic recommendations for adrenocortical carcinoma.

Advances in the diagnosis and treatment of adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), along with the development of new therapeutic and diagnostic methods, have prompted a team of experts to formulate the first Polish guidelines for managing ACC. This article presents the diagnostic and therapeutic recommendations resulting from the discussion of specialists from various medical specialities, who participated in a series of online meetings aimed at developing consistent and effective recommendations under the National Oncology Strategy. These guidelines aim to optimise ACC treatment in Poland through coordinated efforts of multidisciplinary specialist teams, ensuring an effective and modern approach.
