Cut-off value for the posterior tibial slope indicating the risk for retear of the anterior cruciate ligament.

Purpose: The significance of the posterior tibial slope (PTS) has increasingly come into focus in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction being a risk factor for ACL graft failure. Nevertheless, inconsistent data on the critical value of the PTS exist. The purpose of this study was to define a cut-off value for the PTS in ACL surgery.

From Molecular to Polymeric Donors: Prolonged Charge Separation in Modular Photoredox-Active Ru(II) Polypyridyl-Type Triads.

In this contribution, the divergent modular synthesis of photoredox-active dyads, triads and a tetrad descending from one ligand precursor is presented by combining "chemistry-on-the-ligand", stepwise complexation and "chemistry-on-the-complex" with minimal synthetic efforts. In the final step, Pd-mediated borylation and subsequent Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling was employed to introduce the different (multi)donor moieties at the preassembled P-A dyad subunit. The (spectro-)electrochemical data revealed preserved redox properties of the subunits and minimal driving force for oxidative quenching by the naphthalene diimide-based (NDI) acceptor and, thus, high-energy charge separated (CS) states.

[Housing Situation of People with Severe Mental Illnesses].

Objective: People with mental illness should live independently in the community. This study analyzed the housing situation and the use and need of psychiatric housing facilities of people with severe mental illness.

Methods: Data from a cross-sectional study with 397 people with severe mental illness from two Bavarian districts were used and analyzed descriptively.

Statistical mechanics of crystal nuclei of hard spheres.

In the study of crystal nucleation via computer simulations, hard spheres are arguably the most extensively explored model system. Nonetheless, even in this simple model system, the complex thermodynamics of crystal nuclei can sometimes give rise to counterintuitive results, such as the recent observation that the pressure inside a critical nucleus is lower than that of the surrounding fluid, seemingly clashing with the strictly positive Young-Laplace pressure we would expect in liquid droplets. Here, we re-derive many of the founding equations associated with crystal nucleation and use the hard-sphere model to demonstrate how they give rise to this negative pressure difference.
