Central nervous system (CNS) tumours are the most common cancer cause of death in under 40s in the UK, largely because they persist and recur and sometimes metastasise during treatment. Therefore, longitudinal monitoring of patients during and following treatment must be undertaken to understand the course of the disease and alter treatment plans reactively. This monitoring must be specific, sensitive, rapid, low cost, simple, and accepted by the patient.

Although other cancer predisposition syndromes have established cancer screening protocols, evidence-based guidelines for cancer screening in A-T are lacking. This study sought to assess feasibility of a cancer screening protocol based on whole-body MRI (WB-MRI) in children and young people with A-T.

This multicenter observational study aimed to evaluate the baseline routes and time to diagnosis for pediatric brain tumors in Tamil Nadu (TN), with the goal of promoting early diagnosis and timely referrals in the future.
Methods: A standard proforma was used to retrospectively collect information on demographics, diagnosis, referral pathways, and symptoms of incident pediatric brain tumor cases between January 2018 and October 2020 across eight tertiary hospitals in TN.
Background: Central nervous system (CNS) tumours account for around 25% of childhood neoplasms. With multi-modal therapy, 5-year survival is at around 75% in the UK. Conventional photon radiotherapy has made significant contributions to survival, but can be associated with long-term side effects.
