Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae biovar 3 (Psa3) has decimated kiwifruit orchards growing susceptible kiwifruit Actinidia chinensis varieties. Effector loss has occurred recently in Psa3 isolates from resistant kiwifruit germplasm, resulting in strains capable of partially overcoming resistance present in kiwiberry vines (Actinidia arguta, Actinidia polygama, and Actinidia melanandra).

Urine diversion in toilets is a promising strategy to maximise nutrient recovery and produce low-cost urine-derived fertilisers. There are various methods for nutrient recovery from urine, including precipitation and adsorption onto porous media, such as biochars. This study uses faecal-derived biochars to produce and, for the first time, comprehensively characterise enriched biochar fertilisers with the addition of fully hydrolysed undiluted human urine.

Introduction: We implemented a large-scale remote patient monitoring (RPM) program for patients diagnosed with coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) at a not-for-profit regional healthcare system. In this retrospective observational study, patients from nine emergency department (ED) sites were provided a pulse oximeter and enrolled onto a monitoring platform upon discharge.

Methods: The RPM team captured oxygen saturation (SpO), heart rate, temperature, and symptom progression data over a 16-day monitoring period, and the team engaged patients via video call, phone call, and chat within the platform.
