How to become a breast cancer specialist in 2018: The point of view of the second cohort of the Certificate of Competence in Breast Cancer (CCB2).

Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequent cancer in women and the leading cause of cancer death in females worldwide. Rapid research advancements add to the complexity of treatment options for this disease. It is known that the quality of patients' care is deeply affected by healthcare professionals following these advancements.

Nerve conduction studies in diabetics presymptomatic and symptomatic for diabetic polyneuropathy.

Objective: We performed nerve conduction studies (NCS) on diabetics with and without symptoms of diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN) and evaluated correlations with glycaemic control and clinical features.

Methods: Consecutive patients were recruited in three groups: "normals" (nondiabetics without peripheral nerve disease); "presymptomatic diabetics" (diabetes without DPN); and "symptomatic diabetics". Clinical questionnaire and neurological examination were administered, and NCS were performed using standard techniques.

Apple-peel atresia presenting as foetal intestinal obstruction.

Apple-peel atresia or Type 3 jejuno-ileal atresia (JIA) is an uncommon cause of foetal intestinal obstruction. Bowel obstruction in the foetus is diagnosed on the prenatal ultrasonography only in 50% cases. We report a case in which foetal intestinal obstruction was diagnosed on prenatal ultrasonography.

Effect of cigarette smoking and 3.2% ethanol alone or together on RBC and platelet counts in rats.

The present study was conducted on 32 rats divided into four groups. Group C served as control, Group S rats were exposed to cigarette smoke alone, Group SE to cigarette smoke and ethanol (3.2%) and Group E to ethanol alone for twelve weeks.

Study of photic versus non-photic cues as entrainers of circadian running activity in rats.

Though relative dominance of photic/non-photic cues on rodent circadian running activity is known, the exclusive role of non-photic entrainers in rats deprived of photic entrainers is not demonstrated and hence present work using retino-hypothalamic pathway blocked male rats (n = 10) was initiated. Blocking is done by enucleation of eyeballs. Circadian running activity is studied before enucleation and after enucleation towards instinctual social cues, food, water and sexual cues provided in activity cage.
