Soluble adenylyl cyclase (sAC: ADCY10) is an enzyme involved in intracellular signaling. Inhibition of sAC has potential therapeutic utility in a number of areas. For example, sAC is integral to successful male fertility: sAC activation is required for sperm motility and ability to undergo the acrosome reaction, two processes central to oocyte fertilization.

In this study, we investigated the influence of the loss of cathepsin K (Ctsk) gene on the hematopoietic system in vitro and in vivo. We found that cultures with lineage SCA1 KIT (LSK) cells on Ctsk deficient stromal cells display reduced colony formation and proliferation, with increased differentiation, giving rise to repopulating cells with reduced ability to repopulate the donor LSKs and T cell compartments in the bone marrow (BM). Subsequent in vivo experiments showed impairment of lymphocyte numbers, but, gross effects on early hematopoiesis or myelopoiesis were not found.

Surveys have shown that super-Earth and Neptune-mass exoplanets are more frequent than gas giants around low-mass stars, as predicted by the core accretion theory of planet formation. We report the discovery of a giant planet around the very-low-mass star GJ 3512, as determined by optical and near-infrared radial-velocity observations. The planet has a minimum mass of 0.

This randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial was conducted to assess the efficacy and safety of ivy leaves cough liquid in the treatment of acute cough. A total of 181 adult patients with acute cough were treated with either ivy leaves cough liquid containing EA 575® or with placebo three times a day for one week. The primary efficacy outcome was cough severity (CS) assessed by Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) over the whole treatment period (area-under-the-curve (AUC0-168 h) over 7 days (visit (V)1, V2, V3, V4, and V5).

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers used x-ray absorption spectroscopy to analyze the short-range structure of liquid Al-Ni alloys, focusing on how temperature and composition affect it.
  • A containerless technique, which involves aerodynamic levitation and inductive heating, was employed to position and melt the alloy samples for accurate measurements.
  • Findings indicated that there are more heteroatomic pairs surrounding the scatterer in the alloy compared to a homogeneous alloy, suggesting a more complex structural arrangement.
