Proton diffusion and hydrogen/deuterium exchange in amorphous solid water at temperatures from 114 to 134 K.

The reaction coefficient for hydrogen/deuterium (H/D) exchange and the diffusion of hydrated excess protons within amorphous solid water (ASW) are characterized as a function of temperature. For these experiments, water films are deposited on a Pt(111) substrate at 108 K, and reactions with pre-adsorbed hydrogen atoms produce hydrated protons. Upon heating, protons diffuse within the water, and H/D exchange occurs when they encounter D2O probe molecules deposited in the films.

Emerging therapeutic approaches for Tourette syndrome and other tic disorders - a systematic review of current clinical trials.

Tourette syndrome and other tic disorders are prevalent neurodevelopmental disorders typically treated with behavioral techniques or pharmacological interventions, primarily antipsychotics. However, many patients do not achieve sufficient response to conventional treatments, underscoring the need for further research in this area. To provide a comprehensive overview of ongoing research activities, we systematically searched the clinical registries of the World Health Organization (WHO) and of the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH) for currently planned or ongoing registered clinical studies.

Super-Resolved Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging of Single Cy3 Molecules and Quantum Dots Using Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting with a Four-Pixel Fiber Optic Array Camera.

Time-resolved single molecule localization microscopy (TR-SMLM) with a 2 × 2 pixel fiber optic array camera was combined with time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC) to obtain super-resolved fluorescence lifetime images of individual Cy3 dye molecules and individual colloidal CdSe/CdS/ZnS core/shell/shell semiconductor quantum dots (QDs). The characteristic blinking and bleaching behavior of the Cy3 and the blinking behavior of the QD emitters were used as distinguishing optical characteristics to isolate them and determine their centroid locations with spatial resolution below the optical diffraction limit. TCSPC was used to characterize the fluorescence lifetime and intensity corresponding to each emitter location.

Characterization of Pulmonary Pathology in the Golden Syrian Hamster Model of COVID-19 Using Micro-Computed Tomography.

The Golden Syrian hamster is a well-characterized rodent model for severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2)-associated pneumonia. We sought to characterize the pulmonary disease course during SARS-CoV-2 infection (strain USA-WA1/2020) in the hamster model using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) and compare radiologic observations with histopathologic findings. We observed a range of radiologic abnormalities, including ground glass opacities (GGOs), consolidations, air bronchograms, and pneumomediastinum.

Literacy Promotion: An Essential Component of Primary Care Pediatric Practice: Technical Report.

Early literacy promotion in pediatric primary care supports parents and caregivers in reading with their children from birth, offering counseling in interactive, developmentally appropriate strategies and providing developmentally and culturally appropriate and appealing children's books. This technical report reviews the evidence that reading with young children supports language, cognitive, and social-emotional development. Promoting early literacy in pediatric primary care offers a strengths-based strategy to support families in creating positive childhood experiences, which strengthen early relational health.
