Objective: Research has shown that polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common cause of infertility in women. The drugs used to treat PCOS tend to manage the symptoms rather than cure the disease. Furthermore, these drugs have severe side-effects and influence the quality of life for the patients.

The mononuclear phagocyte system (MPS) defends the body against the invasion of microorganisms by phagocytosis. In the presence of opsonins, the invading matter is readily recognized by phagocytes because of the interaction between receptors on the phagocytic cell surfaces and the modified conformation of opsonins. The particulate carriers, which are otherwise capable of optimizing drug delivery, are subjected to opsonization and phagocytosis by the MPS immediately following intravenous administration.

In this study, Pharmacodynamic interactions between silver nanoparticle (SNP) and topical antibiotics such as Cefazolin (CEF), Mupirocin (MUP), Gentamycin (GEN), Neomycin (NEO), Tetracycline (TET), Vancomycin (VAN) were investigated using the MIC test, Combination assay followed by Fractional Inhibitory concentration Index and Agar well diffusion method. SNP + MUP, SNP + NEO, SNP + VAN combinations showed Synergism (SN) and SNP + CEF, SNP + GEN, SNP + TET showed Partial synergism (PS) against Staphylococcus aureus.
