Objective: The impact of maternal stress on birth outcomes is well established in the scientific research. The sex ratio at birth (SRB), namely the ratio of male to female live births, shows significant alteration when mothers experience acute stress conditions, as proposed by the Trivers-Willard Hypothesis. We aimed to synthetize the literature on the relationship between two exogenous and catastrophic stressful events (natural disasters and epidemics) and SRB.

Free diced cartilage graft represents a relatively innovative technique with multiple applications. It is conventionally used for smoothening, augmentation, or camouflaging of the nasal dorsum in primary or revision rhinoplasties. The aim of the article was to give some tips and tricks about harvesting and preparation of free diced cartilage to maximize its exploitation and make it easily repeatable, extending the field of application not only to the nasal dorsum but also other sites, such as the tip of the nose.

Current approaches to body contouring often involve a combination of surgical techniques (eg, laser-assisted liposuction) and a series of noninvasive device-based treatments aimed at accelerating recovery and improving aesthetic outcomes. In this case study, we describe a 38-year-old woman who presented with an abdominal-wall mass that resembled a tumor when assessed with magnetic resonance imaging.
