Torque teno virus: a potential marker of immune reconstitution in youths with vertically acquired HIV.

Torque teno virus (TTV) viral load (VL), a component of the human virome, increases during immune suppression or dysregulation. This study aimed to explore TTV VL in youths living with vertically acquired HIV (YWVH) and its potential as an immunovirological marker. We performed an observational, retrospective study involving YWVH under antiretroviral treatment (ART) from the Spanish Cohort of HIV-infected children, adolescents, and vertically HIV-infected patients transferred to Adult Units (CoRISpe-FARO), compared to HIV-negative healthy donors (HD).

Tuberculosis Disease in Immunocompromised Children and Adolescents: A Pediatric Tuberculosis Network European Trials Group Multicenter Case-control Study.

Background: In high-resource settings, the survival of children with immunocompromise (IC) has increased and immunosuppressive therapies are increasingly being used. This study aimed to determine the clinical characteristics, performance of diagnostic tools, and outcome of IC children with tuberculosis (TB) in Europe.

Methods: Multicenter, matched case-control study within the Pediatric Tuberculosis Network European Trials Group, capturing TB cases <18 years diagnosed 2000-2020.

Matched cohort study on the efficacy of tocilizumab in patients with COVID-19.

Background: Tocilizumab has been proposed as a treatment for the new disease COVID-19, however, there is not enough scientific evidence to support this treatment. The objective of this study is to analyze whether the use of tocilizumab is associated with respiratory improvement and a shorter time to discharge in patients with COVID-19 and lung involvement.

Methods: Observational study on a cohort of 418 patients, admitted to three county hospitals in Catalonia (Spain).

Association between COVID-19 prognosis and disease presentation, comorbidities and chronic treatment of hospitalized patients.

Importance: The rapid pandemic expansion of the disease caused by the new SARS-CoV-2 virus has compromised health systems worldwide. Knowledge of prognostic factors in affected patients can help optimize care.

Objective: The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between the prognosis of COVID-19 and the form of presentation of the disease, the previous pathologies of patients and their chronic treatments.

Observational study of azithromycin in hospitalized patients with COVID-19.

Background: The rapid spread of the disease caused by the novel SARS-CoV-2 virus has led to the use of multiple therapeutic agents whose efficacy has not been previously demonstrated. The objective of this study was to analyze whether there is an association between the use of azithromycin and the evolution of the pulmonary disease or the time to discharge, in patients hospitalized with COVID-19.

Methods: This was an observational study on a cohort of 418 patients admitted to three regional hospitals in Catalonia, Spain.
