During meiosis, transient associations between the nuclear envelope and telomeres transmit nuclear movements to chromosomes, enabling their pairing and recombination. Recent advances in the field of quantitative cell biology allow a large volume of information about the kinetics of these chromosome movements to be extracted and analyzed with the aim of identifying biologically relevant movement patterns. To this end, we have developed ChroMo, a freely available application for the unsupervised study of chromosome movements in fission yeast meiosis.
