- The Global Polio Eradication Initiative has significantly reduced wild poliovirus cases since 1988, eliminating two serotypes and limiting endemic transmission to just Afghanistan and Pakistan.
- In Pakistan, a single confirmed WPV1 case was reported in early 2023, but subsequent months saw a resurgence with eight cases documented by mid-2024 and over 300 WPV1-positive environmental samples.
- The country's ongoing challenges, such as a complex sociopolitical environment and community resistance to vaccination, necessitate strong political commitment and targeted efforts to improve polio vaccination outreach and address operational issues.
Purpose: This phase 1 study aimed to assess the safety and feasibility of SABR therapy delivery to all sites of polymetastatic disease (>10 metastases).
Methods And Materials: A 3 + 3 study design was used with 5 dose levels from 6 Gy (6 Gy × 1) to 30 Gy (6 Gy weekly × 5). Dose-limiting toxicity (DLT) was defined as any grade 4 or 5 toxicity or more than 3 grade 3 toxicities within 6 weeks of treatment.
A consequence of the proliferation of online communication is the concerning presence of antisocial behavior observed in virtual spaces. Research suggests the cognitive component of empathy is hindered by features of electronic communication which facilitates antisocial behaviors online. Investigations into how features of online communication inhibit cognitive empathy are lacking, and findings on moral disengagement and antisocial behavior have yet to be integrated with studies on cognitive empathy and electronic communication.
