Chronic allograft nephropathy (CAN) is the most important cause of late renal allograft loss. The standard diagnosis of CAN is based on pathological examinations according to Banff'97 scheme. The aim of the study was to evaluate the usefulness of tubular and glomerular proteinuria in non-invasive recognition of vascular changes accompanying CAN (AH--arteriolar hyaline thickening, CV--vascular fibrous intimal thickening).

We examined three groups of pts: group I-41 pts with nonvalvular paf, group II-20 pts with hypertension and/or ischemic heart disease without paf and group 3-26 health persons, without organic heart disease. In all pts the signal-averaged electrocardiogram triggered by P waves was recorded.

Lower frequency of myocardial infarct seems to result from lower severity of coronary atherosclerosis. The incidence rate of myocardial infarct was also significantly lower in the cancer--bearing group when both compared populations showed identical, severe (grade 4) coronary atherosclerosis.

The percentage of malignancy in the total autopsy material of 5821 men and 6849 women was 27.8 and 23.

Using conventional electron microscopy and goniometry, we studied changes in mitochondria of rat heart muscle and of choroid plexus ependyma caused by treatment with 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP). Calculation of real thickness was made using goniometric data (formula shown) and the results checked by the method of Casley-Smith and Davy.
