The main objective of this study was to quantify the effect of pegbovigrastim (PEG) as an adjunct therapy for naturally occurring severe mastitis cases on survival, intramammary bacteriological cure, and subsequent milk production. A double-blinded, randomized controlled trial was conducted on a single commercial dairy farm. During the study period, all cows having a case of severe clinical mastitis, defined as the presence of abnormal milk and inflammation in one quarter or more combined with the presence of systemic signs (pyrexia, dehydration, or recumbency), were enrolled in the study.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the effects of three types of plasmapheresis—centrifugal (cTPE), single-filtration (mTPE), and double-filtration (DFPP)—on blood clotting factors and thrombin generation in patients needing organ transplants.* -
  • Results show that cTPE and mTPE significantly reduce various blood proteins, while DFPP uniquely targets high-molecular-weight proteins, but all methods have similar effects on thrombin generation.* -
  • Overall, while DFPP effectively depletes specific proteins important for clotting, the changes in thrombin generation across all modalities suggest a balance between reducing pro-coagulants and natural anticoagulants.*
