Spinal motor neuron (MN) dysfunction is the cause of a number of clinically significant movement disorders. Despite the recent approval of gene therapeutics targeting these MN-related disorders, there are no viral delivery mechanisms that achieve MN-restricted transgene expression. In this study, chromatin accessibility profiling of genetically defined mouse MNs was used to identify candidate cis-regulatory elements (CREs) capable of driving MN-selective gene expression.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: The MR CLEAN NO-IV trial showed neither superiority nor noninferiority of endovascular treatment (EVT) alone compared to intravenous thrombolysis (IVT; Alteplase) before EVT in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients with large vessel occlusion of the anterior circulation. Although the treatment effect is largely attributable to EVT, IVT may affect hypercoagulability during AIS.
Aims: To investigate the association between activated coagulation and final infarct volume and clinical outcomes (modified Rankin Scale 3-6 and mortality 90 days post-EVT), and whether this effect is modified by IVT administration.
Existing analytical techniques are being improved or applied in new ways to profile the tissue microenvironment (TME) to better understand the role of cells in disease research. Fully understanding the complex interactions between cells of many different types and functions is often slowed by the intense data analysis required. Multiplexed Ion Beam Imaging (MIBI) has been developed to simultaneously characterize 50+ cell types and their functions within the TME with a subcellular spatial resolution, but this results in complex data sets that are challenging to qualitatively analyze.
