Mental nerve function after inferior alveolar nerve transposition for placement of dental implants.

Background: One option for successful placement of dental implants in an atrophic posterior mandible without injury to the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) is to transpose or lateralize the nerve. This procedure carries the risk of numbness along the distribution of the nerve, the complication that the procedure is undertaken to avoid in the first place. The purpose of the present study was to assess mental nerve function after transposition of the IAN.

[Association between breast and colorectal cancer and polyps. Screening and epidemiological study].

Background: Studies regarding the associations between different types of cancer in the same patient are very few and not always come to the same conclusions. Several hypothesis are suggested and particularly genetic and socioeconomical ones seem to offer an interpretation of this issue. Early detection of a second neoplasm allows to improve prognosis and survival.

Biofragmentable anastomosis ring (BAR) in intestinal surgery: review of 21 cases and evaluation of postoperative morbidity.

The authors report their experience with the use of biofragmentable anastomosis ring in intestinal anastomosis: 21 patients underwent intestinal resection and anastomosis by BAR. There was no operative mortality. One patient developed an anastomotic leak and three patients had symptoms of intestinal obstruction.

[Intestinal perforation caused by a chicken bone: apropos of a clinical case].

Ingestion of foreign bodies (FB) seems to be a relatively common occurrence in certain classes of people. The majority of ingested objects reach the stomach end 80% of these pass spontaneously without complications. However nearly 20% of FB that pass from the stomach result in complication distally such to required a surgical operation.
