Monitoring disease progression often involves tracking biomarker measurements over time. Joint models (JMs) for longitudinal and survival data provide a framework to explore the relationship between time-varying biomarkers and patients' event outcomes, offering the potential for personalized survival predictions. In this article, we introduce the linear state space dynamic survival model for handling longitudinal and survival data.

Paroxysmal dysarthria-ataxia syndrome.

Paroxysmal dysarthria ataxia syndrome presents with recurrent, brief, stereotyped events of dysarthria, limb clumsiness, unsteady gait and vertigo or dizziness that can occur in association with lesions in the midbrain. We describe a case of a woman presenting with paroxysmal dysarthria and ataxia secondary to a midbrain lesion, treated successfully with carbamazepine.

Background: Following the outbreak of COVID-19, global healthcare systems have had to rapidly adapt. People with multiple sclerosis (pwMS) were required to make decisions about their individual risk and consequent work and social behaviors. This study aimed to evaluate risk perception and patterns of shielding behavior amongst pwMS at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent impact on patients' employment and access to disease modifying therapies (DMTs).

This article explores the risk of infection in people with MS and provides guidance-developed by Delphi consensus by specialists involved in their management-on how to screen for, prevent and manage infection in this population.

Sub-therapeutic colchicine levels in a patient treated for acute pericarditis in the setting of carbamazepine use: A case report.

What Is Known And Objective: Colchicine is a standard therapy for the treatment of acute pericarditis. It is metabolized by cytochrome P-450 3A4 (CYP3A4) and is subject to potential drug interactions. Multiple case reports describe accumulation of colchicine with CYP3A4 inhibitors, but limited data exist for increased colchicine clearance with CYP3A4 inducers.
