Background: To assess the impact of attaining aggressive beta-lactam pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) targets on clinical efficacy in critical orthotopic liver transplant (OLT) recipients with documented early Gram-negative infections.

Methods: OLT recipients admitted to the post-transplant ICU between June 2021 and May 2024 having documented Gram-negative infections treated with targeted therapy continuous infusion (CI) beta-lactams, and undergoing therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM)-guided beta-lactam dosing adjustment in the first 72 hours were prospectively enrolled. Free steady-state concentrations (fCss) of beta-lactams (BL) and/or of beta-lactamase inhibitors (BLI) were calculated, and aggressive PK/PD target attainment was measured.

Alternating hemiplegia of childhood (AHC) is a rare neurological disorder that usually manifests before 18 months of age and is characterized by recurrent, alternating episodes of hemiparesis with variable frequency and can last from a few minutes to several days. We present a case of AHC in a little girl carrying a sporadic mutation in the ATP1A3 gene (p.Glu815Lys) refractory to flunarizine and non-compliant to topiramate due to adverse effects treated with oral compound of adenosine-5'-triphosphate (ATP) capsules.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder influenced by proteins involved in skin barrier maintenance and vitamin D metabolism. Using an intra-patient design, this study compared protein expression in intra-lesional (IL) and peri-lesional (PL) skin biopsies from AD patients and examined associations between protein levels, vitamin D status, and clinical features. Forty-four biopsies from twenty-two AD patients were analyzed using antibody microarrays targeting twelve proteins.

Motivation: Proteins at the cell surface connect signaling networks and largely determine a cell's capacity to communicate and interact with its environment. In particular, variations in transcriptomic profiles are often observed between healthy and diseased cells, leading to distinct sets of cell-surface proteins. For these reasons, cell-surface proteins may act as biomarkers for the detection of cells of interest in tissues or body fluids, are often the target of pharmaceutical agents, and hold significant promise in the clinical practice for diagnosis, prognosis, treatment development, and evaluation of therapy response.
