Objective: Hematologic malignancies in women of reproductive age carry significant additional morbidity due to menstrual bleeding in conjunction with disease and treatment-associated cytopenias. Several agents for menses prophylaxis and suppression exist, but there is a paucity of data comparing these therapies, particularly in the cancer setting.

Data Sources: A thorough literature review and evaluation of available data was conducted via PubMed search and combined with clinical expertise.

Empowering Youth Vaccine Ambassadors to Promote COVID-19 Vaccination in Local Communities: A 7-Step Approach.

Despite the availability of COVID-19 vaccines for youth since 2021, vaccine hesitancy has resulted in suboptimal uptake. Public health campaigns that empower local youth ambassadors as trusted messengers who share their personal narratives related to getting vaccinated hold promise for promoting COVID-19 vaccination. We used a seven-step approach to develop, implement, and evaluate a youth-led ambassador campaign to promote COVID-19 vaccine uptake in communities experiencing COVID-19 disparities in Worcester, MA.

The evolving role of the Women's Health Specialist in cancer prevention and survivorship.

Importance And Objective: This review provides a framework for primary care physicians, internists, family doctors, NP's, PA's, and oncologists caring for women-henceforth referred to as Women's Health Specialists-to identify and screen patients who may be at high risk for inherited cancer syndromes; an intervention referred to as previvorship care. For women who undergo risk-reducing oophorectomy, survivorship care is critical to optimizing quality of life thereafter. In this paper, we review management of the unique survivorship needs and management options for women at risk for or with a cancer diagnosis, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary care.

A Citywide Approach to SARS-CoV2 Testing.

The COVID-19 pandemic caused more than 30 million infections in the United States between March 2020 and April 2021. In response to systemic disparities in SARS-CoV2 testing and COVID-19 infections, health systems, city leaders and community stakeholders in Worcester, Massachusetts created a citywide Equity Task Force with a specific goal of making low-barrier testing available to individuals throughout our community. Within months, the state of Massachusetts announced the Stop the Spread campaign, a state-funded testing venture.

Late effects in patients with Fanconi anemia following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation from alternative donors.

Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is curative for hematological manifestations of Fanconi anemia (FA). We performed a retrospective analysis of 22 patients with FA and aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndrome or acute myelogenous leukemia who underwent a HSCT at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and survived at least 1 year post HSCT. Patients underwent either a TBI- (N=18) or busulfan- (N=4) based cytoreduction followed by T-cell-depleted transplants from alternative donors.
