: Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a leading cause of acute viral hepatitis in adults. The schedule for HEV 239, the only approved anti-HEV vaccine, consists of three doses at 0, 1, and 6 months, which is unsuitable for use in emergency and outbreak situations where quick protection is desired. We, therefore, undertook a systematic review of data on immunogenicity, efficacy, and effectiveness of alternative accelerated schedules.

Surface biofunctionalization with structurally perturbed albumin, as well as with other plasmatic proteins, inhibits the initial bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation, involved in numerous healthcare-associated infections. In fact, we have reported this protective effect with thermally treated plasmatic proteins, such as albumin and fibrinogen, adsorbed on flat silica surfaces. Here, we show that albumin biofunctionalization also works properly on flat Ti6Al4V substrates, which are widely used to fabricate medical devices.

Background: A neuroinflammatory disease such as Alzheimer's disease, presents a significant challenge in neurotherapeutics, particularly due to the complex etiology and allostatic factors, referred to as CNS stressors, that accelerate the development and progression of the disease. These CNS stressors include cerebral hypo-glucose metabolism, hyperinsulinemia, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, impairment of neuronal autophagy, hypoxic insults and neuroinflammation. This study aims to explore the efficacy and safety of DAG-MAG-ΒHB, a novel ketone diester, in mitigating these risk factors by sustaining therapeutic ketosis, independent of conventional metabolic pathways.
