Objective: In Italy, around 137,000 people live with multiple sclerosis, facing organizational complexities due to the current model's limited focus on proximity care. This project aims to define a proximity model, in accordance with recent developments in the Italian healthcare landscape, engaging over 150 healthcare stakeholders and potentially impacting approximately 14,000 patients.

Methods: An analysis was pursued to map the multiple sclerosis pathway, followed by interviews to capture the actual implementation in Italian Multiple Sclerosis Centers.

/: Optic neuropathies are a category of illnesses that ultimately cause damage to the optic nerve, leading to vision impairment and possible blindness. Disorders such as dominant optic atrophy (DOA), Leber hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON), and glaucoma demonstrate intricate genetic foundations and varied phenotypic manifestations. This narrative review study seeks to consolidate existing knowledge on the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying ocular neuropathies, examine genotype-phenotype correlations, and assess novel therapeutic options to improve diagnostic and treatment methodologies.

Introduction: This retrospective study and review aim to investigate diffuse adult gliomas in the motor cortex (primary motor area, M1, and secondary motor area, M2, which includes the supplementary motor area and premotor cortex). It explores the relationships between the histologic and molecular profiles of the lesions, their location, and the type of resection performed, and correlates them with patients' outcomes post-surgery.

Material And Methods: An Institutional retrospective review was conducted on a consecutive series of 200 selected patients with histologically confirmed Glioblastomas (GBM) treated surgically between September 2018 and February 2022.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative dementia, with diagnosis traditionally reliant on clinical criteria. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers like pTau181 and Aβ/Aβ ratio significantly improve diagnostic accuracy but are invasive. Plasma biomarkers measured by automated assays offer a non-invasive alternative.

Article Synopsis
  • Spinal meningiomas (SMs) are rare tumors of the spine, and this study investigates the outcomes and complications of surgery in older patients to determine the actual benefits of surgical intervention.
  • A cohort of 156 patients, divided into three age groups (under 50, 51-74, and over 75), was analyzed for neurological improvements, resection success, complications, and recurrence rates after surgery.
  • Results showed that older patients (particularly those over 75) can still see significant improvements in quality of life and functional status from surgery, suggesting age alone shouldn't deter surgical treatment for SMs.
