The nutritional status in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is often impaired, and adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) remains under-investigated. The aim of this study was to assess diet quality (DQ) and adherence to MedDiet in a cohort of Sardinian IBD patients. We conducted a case-control study in which 50 Crohn's disease (CD) and 50 ulcerative colitis (UC) patients were matched with 100 healthy controls each.

Neurological disorders, particularly those associated with aging, pose significant challenges in early diagnosis and treatment. The identification of specific biomarkers, such as platelets (PLTs), has emerged as a promising strategy for early detection and intervention in neurological health. This systematic review aims to explore the intricate relationship between PLT dynamics and neurological health, focusing on their potential role in cognitive functions and the pathogenesis of cognitive disorders.

Multiscale models are among the cutting-edge technologies used for face detection and recognition. An example is Deformable part-based models (DPMs), which encode a face as a multiplicity of local areas (parts) at different resolution scales and their hierarchical and spatial relationship. Although these models have proven successful and incredibly efficient in practical applications, the mutual position and spatial resolution of the parts involved are arbitrarily defined by a human specialist and the final choice of the optimal scales and parts is based on heuristics.

Article Synopsis
  • - The DarkSide-50 experiment searched for dark matter particles with masses below 1 GeV/c² that interact to produce electrons using a substantial exposure of low-radioactivity liquid argon.
  • - They analyzed the ionization signals to rule out certain interactions between dark matter and electrons, providing new limits on various parameters like the dark matter-electron cross section and other coupling constants.
  • - This study also established the first direct-detection constraints for keV/c² sterile neutrinos, particularly focusing on the mixing angle related to these particles.
