Aquaculture activities can affect water quality and phytoplankton composition. Our study estimated phytoplankton density and composition relating to aquaculture-impacted environmental factors. We analyzed water quality and phytoplankton at 35 sites in a tropical brackish lagoon, including inside aquaculture ponds (integrated farming of fish, shrimp, and crab), at wastewater discharge points, within 300 m of these points, and farther out in the lagoon.

Background: The study aimed to estimate the duration of viral shedding (DVS) in patients with confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), investigated the factors affecting that duration, and identified the redetectable positive (RP) cases in the recovered COVID-19 patients in Prince Sultan Military Medical City (PSMMC).

Methods: The study was a retrospective record base design in the PSMMC that included 171 confirmed COVID-19 patients from 15 March to 31 May 2020. Their clinical characteristics and laboratory findings were retrieved and reviewed based on the PSMMC COVID-19 database and the Ministry of Health (MOH) Health Electronic Surveillance Network.

Background: Although evidence exists for the efficacy of high-fidelity simulation as an educational tool, there is limited evidence for its application in high-stakes professional threshold competency assessment. An alternative model of simulation-based assessment was developed by the Australian Physiotherapy Council (APC), using purpose-written standardised patients, mapped to the appropriate threshold level. The aim of this two-phase study was to investigate whether simulation-based clinical assessments resulted in equivalent outcomes to standard, real-life assessments for overseas-trained physiotherapists seeking registration to practice in Australia.
