Background: Psoriasis is a chronic, systemic, inflammatory skin disease, with increasing prevalence; however, few studies have reported real-world prescription patterns and healthcare burden.

Objectives: This retrospective, observational cohort study used statutory health insurance claims data (January 2014-December 2019) to estimate prevalence/incidence of moderate-to-severe psoriasis in Germany. Patient characteristics, treatment patterns/compliance, and healthcare resource utilization (HCRU)/costs were evaluated, focusing on apremilast and anti-interleukin (IL) and anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) biologics.

Introduction: This study evaluated the prevalence and incidence of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in Germany and explored real-world data on sequence of therapy (SOT; sequence of drugs as prescribed in clinical practice).

Methods: This retrospective, observational, longitudinal cohort study using German claims data from the WIG2 GmbH Scientific Institute for Health Economics and Health System Research database (January 2011-December 2019), extrapolated to the statutory health insurance (SHI)-insured population, evaluated prevalence and incidence in an epidemiological analysis group and SLE treatment patterns in an incident cohort (subgroup ≥ 18 years of age with incident disease and ≥ 24-month follow-up post index date). Cancers utilize a simple glycan, Sialic Acid, to engage in metastatic processes via the Sialic acid (Sia) -Selectin pathway. Selectins recognize and bind to sialylated substrates, resulting in adhesion, migration, and extravasation, however, how deviations from the canonical form of Sia regulate binding to Selectin receptors (E, L, and P) on hemopoietic cells resulting in these metastatic processes, remained a gap in knowledge. De-O-acetylated Sias has been recently shown to be an integral substrate to the binding of sialic acid binding proteins.

Recent work demonstrates that epidermal keratinocytes are critical for normal touch sensation. However, it is unknown whether keratinocytes contribute to touch-evoked pain and hypersensitivity after tissue injury. Here, we used a mouse model of paclitaxel treatment to determine the extent to which keratinocyte activity contributes to the severe neuropathic pain that accompanies chemotherapy.

A significant problem with current influenza vaccines is their reliance on predictions of the most prevalent strains for the upcoming season, with inaccurate forecasts greatly reducing the overall efficacy of the immunization campaign. A universal influenza vaccine, which leverages epitopes conserved across many, if not all, strains of influenza, could reduce the need for extremely accurate forecasting. The highly conserved ectodomain of the influenza M2 protein contains a B cell epitope in the M2 region, making it a promising candidate as a universal influenza vaccine.
