Shift Work and Metabolic Syndrome Updates: A Systematic Review.

Shift work can cause circadian cycles disturbances and misaligns the endogenous rhythms. The physiological variables are driven by the circadian system and, its misalignment, can impair the metabolic functions. Thus, the main objective of this study was to evaluate the metabolic alterations as a result of shift work and night work reported in articles published in the last 5 years, using the eligibility criteria both gender and indexed articles in English language.

Potential contribution of benzodiazepine abuse in the development of a bladder sarcomatoid carcinoma: A case report.

Invasive urothelial carcinoma has a propensity for disparate differentiation and presentation of morphological variants. Sarcomatoid carcinoma (SaC) of the bladder is an extremely uncommon and aggressive variant of bladder cancer. An accurate diagnosis for this variant is necessary, but at times difficult.

Cystic nephroma treated with nephron-sparing technique: A case report.

Multilocular cystic nephroma is a rare benign kidney tumor, which is typically characterized by a unilateral, multicystic renal mass without solid elements. Cystic nephroma has a bimodal distribution and two-thirds of tumors involve children aged between 3 months and 2 years, with male predominance; a second peak affects the age group >30 years old, in which females are predominantly affected. The incidence rate for this rare tumor in patients aged 5-30 years is only 5%.

Pemphigus vegetans with isolated involvement of the nose and chest: rare variant of pemphigus vulgaris.

Pemphigus vulgaris is chronic bullous disease that manifests as bullae and erosions of skin and mucosas, with intraepidermal suprabasal cleft formation seen in the histological examination. It has a rare variant called pemphigus vegetans, where vesicles and bullae are replaced by pustular, verrucous and hyperpigmented lesions, mainly in skin folds. The treatment is similar to that for classic pemphigus vulgaris.

Vesico-vaginal fistula and bladder stone caused by a protruding spiral tacker 4 years after a laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy: Case report.

Our case report demonstrates that the use of tackers or other devices in a improper way should be avoid and it can be correlated with late complication of laparoscopic colposacropexy.
